Introduction

Poker Run To Benefit Special Needs Children Of Horseplay Riding Center

A nonprofit motorcycle association, the Vacaville STAR Chapter No. 315, is holding a poker run for charity. Now, the children with special needs of Horseplay Therapeutic Riding Center will have one more reason to smile.

The poker run will be held Sept. 16, running through Solano County, and is set to end at the Horseplay facility located at 7778 Nunes Road in Dixon.

At the Horseplay compound, the participants, volunteers and children will get to sit back, relax and enjoy the barbecues that will be given out. Horseplay is one of the facilities that recognizes and puts to practice the therapeutic properties of being near animals, specifically, riding horses.

At Horseplay, children with special needs get close to the animals with the help of certified instructors and volunteer assistants. All the horses used for therapy at Horsplay are specially trained to work with children with special needs.

At present, Horseplay has 20 special needs riders on its waiting list. With the help of the poker run, the organizers are hoping that those patients will be getting off the list.

Registration for the poker run will take place at Yamaha of Napa in 459 Soscol Ave. from 8:30 to 10:00 in the morning.
